EDC Denver

Philosophy/Treatment Model

We are frequently asked: What makes the Eating Disorder Center of Denver different from other eating disorder treatment centers?

All quality centers should have compassionate, skilled, multi-disciplinary treatment professionals who collaborate with patients to:

  • Identify the factors that drive each person’s eating disorder;
  • Create opportunities to introduce positive behavioral changes; and
  • Devise a plan so those changes become rooted in everyday life.

Where centers differ is in their philosophy and methods for achieving these outcomes.  The Eating Disorder Center of Denver (EDC-D) offers help and hope through the best of conventional and integrative therapies for patients and family members affected by anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders. We believe that eating disorders are biological/ psychological/social/spiritual illnesses requiring a comprehensive array of treatments that empower patients to become self-directed in regaining their health.

At EDC-D, we stress individual empowerment because internal and external control issues are inherent in eating disorders. Our patients learn to bring about their own changes and celebrate each personal success. The moment they enter EDC-D, they define their own goals, which then serve as inspiration and benchmarks to support their recovery.

Our mission at EDC-D is to increase personal awareness and well-being while improving health. We offer a variety of treatments that support integrated change. From psychotherapy to medication management, from nutritional nourishment to body awareness techniques, from academic lectures to experiential art and movement groups—our patients leave us with a toolbox full of knowledge and skills to support their passion for recovery.
